Summary0006321: Cheap Infinite Jump
DescriptionThis is probably not intended... it's so dang useful that I'm hesitant to report it (god ice age thaw areas are annoying to navigate)... but...

If you jump and then place a crate below your feet while you are falling, you will "land" on the crate long enough to jump again. This can be used for an infinite repeatable jump with some skill.

Given the description I wouldn't call this "cheap", requiring both skill and materials.

Consequently it doesn't seem necessary to prevent it being used.

I hadn't thought of that use myself, but honestly, if people are skilled enough to do that without later plunging to their deaths, then I say huzzah to them.

This reminds me of Super Metroid's wall jump. That manoeuvre, if you knew about it or happened to stumble across it from the beginning, could be used to access some areas far more easily than without it for the first part of the game; but it was sufficiently tricky that it felt satisfying rather than cheesy to perform.

I'm with the others - I had not thought of this with crates, but I used to do it with wood platforms when they floated in the sky. It requires skill and timing, and we're not truly hating anything by height (you can always just make a tower of crates, or get and use lightning rocket, etc).

So while I appreciate the report, this seems legit to me. :)

Ah, I am glad to hear it's staying. Traveling through the background-wall-less thaw was a ~nightmare~ until I figured that out. :)
