Summary | 0006423: Suggest military orbital command station "push" units rather than teleport them
Description | The random "teleport away" mechanic is mildly annoying because your ships can take a long time chasing enemies across the map. If they were just pushed "away" a bit outside of the OCS's range that might work better. The thinking around this and some of the other issues I've filed is I'd prefer to see ships stick together more rather than having them all run off independently. This would help with that as well.

This would be a nice change for all stationary translocaters in general. Not sure how mobile translocators should behave though. Should they keep their current logic? Also, this would be a little awkward with Mk. III military command stations, which have a pretty crazy attack range. |
|
Military Command Stations (unless they are being used to buff a choke point) are best with Spider Turrets. At present you get a system of dead-in-the-water enemy ships all spread out, easy to pick off with FRD units. With push-back you'd get a ring around the Command Station which would net more clustering of enemy ships, possibly making automated defense more difficult in systems suffering light aggression. |

personally i avoid military stations like the plague specifically due to the translocation effect completely undermining my efforts to keep the enemy bottled up in a killzone of concentrated turret fire. usually when ships get translocated, they tend to land near my sniper turrets (i make a complete circle along the edge of the system with them to prevent them getting stomped first in counter attack waves), or they land somewhere in the system where i don't have any turret coverage and no way to stop them. admittedly thats my defence setup causing the problem, but a problem it is none the less. |
|
Wasn't this already done? Military station now do "push" away (with some randomness to the angles of course), but it will always be away from the station of some known distance, I think like range of the military station + x, but I don't know what x is) |

that might very well be true... i haven't played for around half a year so i could easily be ranting about problems from the good old days without realizing they were fixed ages ago |
