Summary0006798: Auto FRD tweaks
DescriptionThe Disabling Warhead Auto-FRD option should also disable spire expendables, meaning Rams and Martyrs.

Secondly, We need a hotkey method to override the anti-auto FRD.

Like Hold position, or w.e. I just don't always want my flagship, which is supposed to be overcharging my turret web, to go engage the enemy fleet and needlessly commit suicide, with the side effect of cutting my firepower significantly.

A hold position command would be pretty cool. Not only would it be nifty for an auto-FRD suppression tool, but possibly it could give that ship a lower "being pushed around" priority, meaning a ship under a hold position command is far less willing to move to make way for other ships.
The need for some sort of auto-FRD supression mechanic has been brought up in many other mantis posts in the past.

Also, very good point that "limited supply" self-destruct units should probably be handled like warheads.

Oh and hunter killers should not have Command center grade hull, or else spire rams should deal full damage to command grade hull. Seriously, That was kinda depressing. The AI complained that it had to apply a new coat of paint........

I think spire rams being given a penalty against command grade hull is to prevent them from just being able to one shot every command station around with little difficulty.

IMO, there should be two "top tier" hull types. One would be reserved exclusively for command stations (or possibly other, critical, immobile structures). The current command-grade hull would become that.
The other would be for other "top-tier" or "top-durability" threats, especially mobile ones. So astro trains, hunter-killers, and motherships would get this.

Both hull types would be very desirable as almost nothing would get a bonus against them. The slightly lesser version would be slightly worse because things that had a severe penalty against command grade would have no or a very small penalty against this new hull type.

This way, spirecraft rams will be able to help out against hunter-killers, but still not be an instant "you are dead" ship to command stations and keep a great hull type for hunter-killers.

Yep, I assumed that was the reason for the Ram to have a penalty to command stations. And I like your solution.

On the other hand, I think I accidently put this discussion off topic, and it really needs it's own mantis suggestion..
