DescriptionHere are few things I think would improve the JtP missions while still retaining the challenge.

1. Implement a progress bar. Not a map exactly, just a slider that shows how close to the end you are. This would allow the player to have an idea of how well his tactics are working. It could also increase !!FUN!! if you are right at the end when you bite it (ARRRGH!! So CLOSE!!).

2. Failure shouldn't end the mission, but instead should send you to the starting area. That way, the terrain stays the same, and you don't start fresh with a new chunk. You could even display a marker on the above suggested bar to display how far you got on the last attempt. This would make the mission more "personal" and the player would be more likely to follow it to completion. If you wanted to get a new chunk, you could just leave the mission area and re-enter it.

3. The difficulty the game is current set at could influence certain aspects of the mission. Maybe eliminate the anti-air towers, or decrease/increase the number of enemies. You could even provide a stealth enchant for the lowest difficulty, or forbid them from the highest. This is one of those missions where difficulty has no affect on how difficult it is to complete.

Additional tweak:

I noticed that the way the game handles enemies dying in 1 shot is to boost the players magical power by something like 5000%. This bonus should not apply to shield spells, because a 5000% boosted shield makes you practically invincible.

Or we could balance them by lowering the health of all monsters to 1 instead of increasing the magical power, that way the player still can't use shields to make himself invincible. (Or in the worst case we can make them unusable)
