Summary0007836: Nerf those Utharaptors
DescriptionThose raptors...
They're a nightmare to face.
They hit hard, and can easily put you into an inescapable stunlock by constantly attacking you over and over, with the only way to safely fight them is by having a 2-block wide hole to snipe them, or extreme amounts of open space.
I suggest you nerf their damage, or stop them from jumping at you over and over and over until you're dead.

I think they are fine as-is. I would like to see them not being jump off the player, aka infinite jump, because it is a bit frustrating to jump obscenely high, but have the raptor stick to you like glue simply because he is able to "jump" off you.

But their damage is fine, it makes them a real challenge!

They make the lava flats challenging place, not lava. And I love such challenges in AVWW. It's different way from the difficulty of The Deep, in which monsters have high HP but not nasty movements, so those two difficult (plus Ocean?) gives me two ways to test my skills.

Besides, apart from Draconite NPCs and some unlockables (well, including triple jumps enchants, but even if desperately, you can take out some utahraptors, right?), nothing forces you to go to lava flats or at least go deep in there. You can simply choose not to go if you think it is too difficult. Utahraptors are fine. Without challenges, what are rewards?

I don't really notice Utahraptors anymore, it's as though all Lava Flats enemies have been replaced with Statues. More likely to find them in neighboring non-Lava Flat areas. When I do find them, they die pretty fast with Ice Burst, not as fast now that it's broken.

2 ways to escape when you are stuck, Teleport, or kill them first. A friend said they use Storm Fist get escape them, but I haven't tried it.

Try playing stealth and getting a Fire Bat to touch you. You'll find a better reason to dislike Lava Flats.

On a side note, I really like Lava Flats and play there often just to climb the Lava Towers. You can get all the mystery clues quite quickly doing this. If you are there more often, you might get used to them and be more tolerant.

On the one hand, I like the idea of Utahraptors. They're interesting.

On the other hand, unless you have very specific spells (and consequentially end up getting hurt trying to either use the number row or swapping spells around to use said spell), they are unavoidable near constant damage.

I'd suggest making it so there's a way to avoid their attacks by normal movement alone. It doesn't need to be easy, though. Off the top of my head, a good way to make them "dodgable" is to put a cooldown on their jumps - that way, when they jump as you jump, if you jump backwards you can then jump over them on a second jump before they get a chance to recover.

BenMiff and his mighty words are correct, they need a way to be dodged. What makes many platform games awesome is that each enemy has a way to avoid it and usually nothing is impossible to get out unscathed if you have practice with it.

Increased fall speed seems to help get under jumping monsters before they touch you or land.
