| Description | Upon loading (not sure if it'd be better to have this at the main screen, or when a player first loads a game): "It looks like you haven't played since version X. We recommend that you read the Release Notes from version X+1 on, so that you have a better idea of how AVWW has changed. (weblink)" Consider having there be no "do not show this tooltip" checkbox, as it's probably a good idea that all players see this tooltip. Pros: more likely that players know about new features Cons: makes it feel like there's boring "Required Reading" for AVWW To make the Con not as annoying, perhaps there could be an abridged release notes. The simplest way to do this would be to remove the bugfixes from these release notes. (To be clear, there would still be a full Release Notes; the abridged version would just be for this tooltip.) Other options, in brief: * Provide a tooltip for each new update, explaining in brief what's changed. Consider linking to the Release Notes (or perhaps an Abridged Release Notes), if players want the full picture, or if they want to see what changed in previous updates. * Provide a mini-tutorial that teaches what's changed in the latest update. (This would probably be way too much work.) * An Ilari stone that warps you to a region with those little "ground gravestone" things that provide text. Each gravestone either describes an entire update in brief, or just one feature of the current update, each room being provided for an update; players can travel to other rooms in order to see update-info for previous updates, all the way back to the first update if they so desire. (Cute, but again probably too much work - unless a mapmaker from the community volunteers to do this...?) | ||||
