Summary0009535: Stand-down mode doesn't work
DescriptionWas playing a game which I had started in 5.077 but updated to 5.078 when I noticed this.

A command station and energy collector were knocked out by the AI and I entered energy brownout. As I was maintaining an attack at the time I put a Zenith Modular fortress and a Mk I fortress into stand-down mode. This didn't change the energy total at all.

I got out of brown out my creating two matter converters.

Then started fiddling with my spare starships and found that putting them into stand-down didn't effect the total either.

From the 5.040 patchnotes:
* Putting units in low-power mode now no longer reduces their energy use.

As of Release 5.040, low power mode no longer reduces power consumption - Check the Patch notes:

Ah thanks. I recently got the Anchient shadows expansion but hadn't read as far back into the patch notes as this.

Although it would still make sense to have the ability to stand down units when you haven't the energy to power them otherwise there is no point the restriction energy imposes on you in the first place.

If you now run out of power you have to quickly destroy some of your fleet/defences to make sure that the more important ones stay online.

Or you can build some more energy converters for -100 m/c per second. This way you don't need to destroy your fleet. You can always destroy the converters later on.

Stand Down still removes power consumption for golems, at least on Moderate (which is actually kind of nice, the power usage on Broken/Botnet Golems-Moderate is really damn high).
