Summary0009554: [AI War] Anomalous resource drains from having a champion?
DescriptionFirst thing I do in most games is unlock Mk3 harvesters of both types. However, when I have a Champion, I always seem to have less income than I should, even with 5 to 10 planets. Part of this seems to be a problem with the ship construction facilities in the nebulae. Say I completed the Shattered Pillar mission; if I build all the ships available from the construction facility, and leave them queued on a loop, it appears that the facility will still drain resources even if they're not producing anything. I believe there's also a problem related to simply having a champion; I've tested by turning off all production I have, absolutely everything, and it still registers that metal and crystal are being spent even though I have none of the extra energy production facilities. I'm pretty sure the nebula production facilities are part of the problem, but also that there are other things going on that affect this.

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

Linked in my issue about not being able to pause some Nebula Constructors.

Sounds like there is something fishy going on with resources/fabricators in the nebulas.

I cant reproduce this in one of my saves (as a matter of fact, I am am able to show that I can 0 out expenditures)

Can you provide a save for me to see?

There's a save in this report http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=9553 that is one I'm having a problem in. There should be six factories, one starship constructor, three nebula fabricators, and whichever command stations that are being rebuilt that are the main resource drains, I don't think I've gotten to the golem yet. When I was testing it before it seemed like stopping all of that still resulted in negative income of 200-300 metal and crystal, if not more, and I think I've run into similar problems in some of the other games I've had running using Ancient Shadows.

Also, Dazio, I am able to pause some of my nebula constructors I think (I'll have to double check at some point, but not right now), but not all of them.

Now that I think of it, this may also be related to the other issue I linked above where it zeroed out the shipcaps of the nebula ships when I added another player, particularly as far as the nebula fabricators draining resources goes if there's a glitch where it reads "shipcap 0" but still drains money in an attempt to produce stuff because it should be able to have 1 or 3 of the ships in play at any given time.

Alright, good to know it's something intentional in the game driving me crazy. I'll just chalk it up to an Advanced Hybrids plot that Keith has kept secret from us all these years.
