Description | When you start the game, Pierce should either be laying on a bed or sitting in a chair, indicating that he's just waking up. When placed on such a solid BG object, however, he is unable to walk anywhere. My solution had been for him to "sit" on a bench in the guest room, which can be walked over, but not only are the graphics updated to make this a park bench, it has of course become solid. Can collision for a BG object be disabled while a player is actually standing on it? I'm thinking in terms of Zelda 3, where Link is on his bed but can't walk on it once he jumps out. Pierce could be standing beside the bed, but it's not as convincing. I also had plans to set tools on benches occasionally, so that they are not found on the ground. Tools on solid objects, of course, are hidden with sparkles, so we can't pick up tools from adjacent BG objects. | ||||

I think what we should do is handle the beds in particular like what FF6 did with beds: you could walk into them from the side only, but could do so at any time. And when you did so, the covers draw over your character in a manner that makes it look as if they are laying down. |

I agree! :) It would also be neat if you could move onto couches and chairs this way, yet not be able to go completely across them. |

I really don't think that would be worth the time to do on couches and chairs, honestly. Without the added layer of the bed covers, it wouldn't work with beds either I don't think. |
