Summary | 0009964: Challenges!
Description | Basically, it'd be a new tab in game-creation that imposes certain restrictive rules on the player. Examples of challenges: * No scouting. Any unit (other than command stations) with the "gathers scout intel" flag would have it disabled. * No starships. Would have to rely entirely on fleet ships. * No speed changes. So no pausing, no speeding up, no speeding down, etc. * Short-range deep strikes. Instead of being able to go to four planets out, you'd only be able to go one planet out before deepstrikes happen. You'd be able to enable as many or as few challenges as you want. It'd have no point other than making the game harder for the players, and make for an interesting game once in a while.

Oh, and another challenge I just thought of: * No AIP reduction. Basically, no DC, ST or CP will spawn, and if you're playing with Spire Civilian Leaders on, they'd not give any AIP reduction either. |

That implementation of "no scouting" seems a bit too restrictive. And hell, I don't really see a benefit in pretty much disabling a part of the UI (you can still see what's on a planet without a scout, it's just inconvenient). Merely disabling non-military scout units might work better, that way you cannot scout past the frontline (at least not without knocking a ton of threat loose) but still get to use the GUI properly. Otherwise it's just tedious to check what's where. |
