Summary0012883: Sentry Turret scaling
DescriptionIn short, sentry Turrets scale up too fast.

With Ninja's inherent bonus to Propulsion, and thus the Trap Skill (which is under Propulsion), a player can stack Trap Skill very rapidly.

At the moment, after a few days in the game, I am using my Ninja and Science only. Science has a lot of sensor range upgrades on it, to use in conjunction with whistle, and my Ninja only has stuff that increases propulsion bonuses, and/or trap skills. All I do is set up 2-3 sentries and pop a whistle.

I'd suggest lowering the scaling of all aspects of sentries. Range, damage, and health goes too high. After a point, instead of a linear progression / scaling, a curved one seems the best choice to me.

edit
At the moment, 1 trap skill grants these:
+20% Attack Power
+60 Max Shields
+0.325 (?) Attack Range
+5% Ammo Capacity

Rather than a flat nerf, bonuses could be halved after 20 skill points for example. A flat nerf might make sentries very useless at low skill levels unless a proper gear is acquired.

I think balancing the sentry turret stats, while tricky, is better than the other proposed solutions. A sentry turret should be capable of operating on its own while the user hides somewhere far away. If you have to stand next to it while under fire, you might as well invest your resources in more powerful weaponry instead.

Are there any bots that can flip sentry turrets to the enemy side? :)

Velorien, those are extra suggestions. My best bet, as I've wrote above, would be a curved progression rather than a linear one.

At the moment, 1 trap skill grants these:
+20% Attack Power
+60 Max Shields
+0.325 (?) Attack Range
+5% Ammo Capacity

Rather than a flat nerf, bonuses could be halved after 20 skill points for example. A flat nerf might make sentries very useless unless a proper gear is acquired.

This will be very different in 1.001 :)
