Summary0014580: Burlusts should increase relationship as War goes on + from killing their ships.
DescriptionI love the Burlusts, the art, the story, everything. I love that when I duel the warlords, I gain additional influence.

Why is this limited to the duels however? When I put myself in a Burlust mindset, I imagine fighting a worthy foe, one that holds together under my combined might. As a Burlust, I should hold that species in higher regard. They've proven themselves worthy of existence. I will not seek out the weaker species that are wasting their resources and are an affront to all living beings.

Basically, destroying Burlust ships should generate positive influence/relations. Let's say the Burlusts attack the Peltians due to a low relationship, but they are successfully repelled by the Peltians. The Burlusts now have higher respect for the Peltians, and move on to the Andors.

If the player destroys Burlust ships through a surprise attack (e.g. unprovoked), that's negative influence. But if the player successfully defends another planet, that increases influence with Burlusts (though perhaps the Burlusts admire the defended species less than if they had fought them off alone). However, if the player withdraws or "dies" when Burlust ships are on the map, that's always negative influence due to cowardice, perhaps overshadowing gains from killing ships.

In practice, this might make Burlusts more dangerous in a strategic sense. Rather than getting into a suicidal war that ends up with Skylaxians taking them over, they will stop before long and move onto a weaker target. Fighting Burlusts would also be a toss up as killing them all is a huge influence boost while failing to do so could make things worse off.

I added the relationship to 14574 as I believe that the alignment of species natures with action outcomes could be more closely aligned. E.g. Burlusts should not get postive goodwill with other species from trade (or nearly as much).

I had some similar ideas, if more generalized and expansive: 0014443

Oops! Sorry I missed it Aswin, I've been trying to go back through the past few pages and look over them all. Thanks for pointing that out.
