Summary0016612: Small Hospital and Major Trauma should slowly do vaccines.
DescriptionI think with few hospitals and 2 or 3 hundred turns of being sick with a disease I should have at least some progress on a vaccine.
Maybe Major Trauma should have something like 0.1 vaccine research and small hospital 0.01.

It might be possible to end up in a situation where you need to keep fighting and getting diseases from it that slow down your research so that it'll take hundreds of turns to research Epidemiology and it's a bit weird that your people can keep getting the same disease over and over for so long without any improvement against it.

Using the Quarratine should solve this problem. It won't cure it, but it will prevent spreading and eventually solve itself. On a player level I'd like a "kill everyone infected" button, but that is a little ethically queasy.

I see Major Trauma as the same kind of specialised building Disease Control is (but in the other direction), so it probably wouldn't make sense for it to do vaccine research.

A small amount of vaccine research from a Small Hospital would make sense and would make early-game disease more survivable.

I've just discovered that having "toxin screening" turned on acts like a "kill everyone infected" (and "spend all my money") button when the planet decides to throw a new disease your way. I just lost half my population (including half the people infected with the disease I was already fighting) like that.

It only works on Toxin diseases. But yes. It does that. I'm not sure if I'm pro- or con. Generally though, I'm okay with it.

You also need more birthing centers.

a bit random but I personally hate the sloth part of disease they just slow down the game a lot for me.

Oh, I really like ptarth's 'kill all infected' idea. You could have some extreme diplo responses to such an action (burlust probably dig it. evock & thoraxian might as well, but skylaxian? peltian? they will be disgusted.

I'd be happy if hospitals did even 0.001 vaccine research or whatever so that if I play a full game while infected with some disease I might have shortened the vaccine research of a Disease Control by a turn or two.

* Accelerated Birth Center now has 40 births per turn rather than 20.

* Major Trauma Center is now Trauma Specialists.
** These no longer cure any diseases per turn at all.
** These now have twice as many local and dispatch combat deaths into woundings provided.

* Small Hospital is now Hospital.
** These now have 5 births per turn rather than 0.
** These now cure 10 diseased per turn per disease rather than 3.
** These now have a vaccine research rate on them that is 0.01, or 1/100th of that which is provided by the disease control.

* Disease Control
** These now cure 20 diseased per turn per disease rather than 6.
