Summary | 0010585: Allow players to undo orders
Description | You should be able to undo most orders on the world map at any point in time. Being able to undo movement in particular would tremendously help with managing large numbers of resistance members. A typical negative experience that this suggestion seeks to avoid is along the lines of: "I move my Scout here, because it's a factory and I need more scrap...oops, that's the only square my Skirmisher can move to that will make him safe. I want to move my Scout somewhere else, but now I can't...reload time...wait a minute this game autosaves...uh-oh..." In general, any orders that don't reveal hidden information or require a random roll can be made undoable without allowing exploitation. This suggests combat and building could also be made undoable. Activating amplifiers, pyramids and focus towers are the only orders that shouldn't be made undoable. This change might require a slightly different wording on the unit detail screen, e.g. "Moving to (3, 3)" or "Building Desert Factory at (5, 7)". This might need attention specifically to integrating with the military-industrial complex, so 0010579 should probably be fixed first. Undoability is a mechanic in many turn-based strategy-RPG's. In particular, the Disgaea series and Battle for Wesnoth have this feature.

Yeah, personally, I'm not sure about this one. We already have the ability to turn on confirmations, so that you have to confirm your move, but, being able to undo turns in a game against the AI seems a bit like a cheat mode to me. None of the Civilization games, for example, allow you to do that. |

Yea, I'm sorry, but it's not a rewindable simulation, so undo is not in the cards. |
