Summary | 0010755: Rare unique maps /locations
Description | I'm not certain how well this would work at present as far as code base (mainly because of camera behavior and monster spawning I would imagine), or if it would even be feasible without deep revisions, however. I think the general idea is best shown by the (crude) mockup attached. I decided to use a craggy highlands as a base for the idea, mainly because of it's inherently inhospitable nature. But I believe it's also in the time of magic, and humanity always builds oddities regardless. This would be one such oddity, that the player could stumble onto once per map. Without warning or prior indication, they would just enter a tile and have it be unique, feeling almost like an immersive discovery. In the image the location is like a half dilapidated ruin, accessed via a cavern. The player moves through an interior, then climbs a half crumbling vertical section (more platforming). Upon reaching the top, they progress to the left over a bridge, through another interior, which brings them close to the beginning leftmost part of the map. They also exit via the left side. This would be interesting because the player would start out in the windstorm, then gradually move out of it. Maybe every type of landscape could have unique areas. Like stepping into a grassland and finding you spend half the map in an elaborate cavern. Etc.
