Summary | 0011295: UI Suggestion: Mini-map
Description | Please add a mini-map that I can use to navigate around the world. Something simple like a colored dot for every military unit and a bright colored square for each town. With green squares for terrain (different shades of green to represent different terrain types if you wanted to get super fancy). It would be quite useful since between turns you need to jump back and forth between the towns so much, and scrolling can be a bit slow.

Admiral's suggestion about keyboard-commands is a possible replacement to the minimap, and probably much quicker to implement in the current timeframe. Would adding buttons to jump to red and blue buttons be sufficient? |
I think that would be enough for smaller and medium rounds, but in larger round with 80+ Turns it doesnt help that much. Maybe i've you could cyle through the Town Centers with this buttons. one click first center, two click second one build, and so on. |
I don't think adding buttons to jump around is quite enough. When you get later in the game, the map gets very large. In my current game, my map is very thin and long, and I find it very frustrating doing the blue turn because I have to scroll..scroll..scroll to get to their latest town to build anything. Really, I don't think it needs to be fancy at all, just having it show the shape of the landmass while letting you click to navigate on it would be enough. Don't really need to show units, showing just the colors of the town centers would be a bonus. |

* Added a new "Allow Really Far Zoom" option in the settings menu, which defaults to on. ** This lets you zoom waaay out, where the text of each city is much more apparent since everything else is so small. ** In a lot of respects this serves as the minimap that people have been looking for, as well as a way to take a screenshot of most of (if not all) of your floating world. |
Between the really far zoom and the filters, I think we're good on here. A minimap is not something I feel like is in the cards. |
