Summary0012074: Make Dark Elves suck less
DescriptionThese are the weakest mythological creature by a massive margin, and aren't anywhere close to parity with the light elves. In fact, they're pretty weak compared to a lot of the other bandit creatures at the same level. They have no bonuses against anything and no special abilities to worry about, and only middling stats. The only thing going for them is the Mythological type.

This is most egregious when the Elven War woe comes up. Try it on a map without many mountains some time. The Ljosalfar wipe the Svartalfar out in a single turn with no casualties. Which, yeah, is pretty nasty as woes go, because now one faction has ten regeneration-buffing long ranged rapid-fire mythological creatures on its side and the other has sweet FA. This might well be intentional, of course, but it still seems harsh.

How to address this? There are a few options. Dark Elves could be bumped up in power, moved to the Bandit Mythological Creatures category, and caused to spawn from monster caves instead. They could be given a set of bonuses or a special ability that makes them highly specialized or particularly effective in certain scenarios, while still keeping their general power level at "bandit". Alternatively, we could accept that they're meant to be way less powerful than other Myths, and the Elven War is actually meant to be hilariously one-sided.

My suggestion for how to make Dark Elves more interesting and dangerous:
* Give them immunity to ranged attacks.
* Give them higher AP, at least 7, maybe as high as 10. Increase their AP-per-attack to match.
* Program them to go for Grassy Ruins and collectable tokens whenever possible, even in preference to actually attacking things.
* If possible, give them an ability that grants them extra bonuses whenever they collect tokens or grassy ruin buffs.

There you go. A sneaky little troublemaker that skulks around, steals all your artifacts, and then uses them against you. Perfect for the Svartalfar.

Of course, I have no idea if this is possible to implement; and the Elven War will still be stupidly one-sided unless there are a lot of ruins and tokens around.

EDIT: Another idea is to give them a large bonus against other Mythologicals (and possibly gods), specifically to give them a unique niche amongst bandits - possibly stealing this niche from the Drukru - and to make the Elven War resemble an actual war rather than an Elven Mugging.

Thanks!

* The health and attack power on Dark Elves has been increased 10x, making them truly terrifying on higher upgrade levels in particular.

Whoa. Hang on, do they still spawn from bandit lairs? Because if so that's incredibly scary. I think these are going to quickly attain "most feared bandit" status.

Yep they do. Well, I'm open to more balancing on them, but honestly whatever it is has to be pretty quick to implement in the next version. I'm at a point where I have a lot on my plate, as you saw from the forums I imagine.
