Summary0012368: when killing a bot yeilds loot, drop a loot container
DescriptionTo me it's a little odd to have the loot text appear on my exo, when I just shot something 8 squares away.

This would feel much more natural. Additionally, if you could somehow make a real fancy loot container that occasionally drops and in this put a rare uber loot you'd be surprised at just how much of a difference this would make to the play enjoyment. Seriously, I still play Phantasy Star Online and when one of those Red Containers drop, to see it just sitting there waiting to be picked up is a thing of beauty. To just see some text flash up sucks some of the enjoyment out collecting the loot.

Dammnit this is already assigned (or hurray) ...soz. Still think the rare container idea is good, though.

Here are two reasons why I disagree, at this venture:
1. Loot containers can be destroyed. It's rare, but I have seen it happen (Plasma Cannon shenanigans). I wouldn't want to miss out on loot because I had to kill a few dangerous enemies.
2. Loot containers block movement. There is already a lot of destroying cover and objects to move through the level (I would say too much, but it does provide some additional strategy). If these leave the typical 'empty container', I would rather the loot just appear in my inventory.

Granted, I get more excited when I check inventory afterwards, as that's when I see if I got a good item with the stats I wanted.

Re: 0000002 -- maybe. You're talking about a minor, infrequent change in the map though.

Ideally, I'd say it doesn't generate a container, just the equipment. But dropping something that is already implemented seems the best course for 1.0.

I would like to see this change implemented.

Regarding Winge's reasons for disagreeing, I think this might be turned into/seen as an interesting additional challenge for the player: acquire the dropped loot without getting shot *and* before it is destroyed by some BlunderBot or friendly fire - could be fun or !fun!.
Both seems to be in tune with the roguelike vibe of the game to me = )...

For 0.929:

* Now when bots drop random loot you don't get the piece instantly, instead it drops a small loot chest instead and you have to walk over to get it like you would normal small loot chests.

I'll ask around internally about the possibility of having them randomly be rare chests.

* The loot drops from enemies now have a 5% chance of being a rare loot container instead of a regular loot container.
