Description | It's occurred to me that the benefit from factory missions really isnt all that strong; the enemy army recovers from it's effects kinda quickly, and the randomness of it can potentially leave a bot type or two mostly untouched by it's effects, so that they balloon out of control. Not to mention that just dropping something by one level, while useful, isnt THAT useful. I tend to feel that these missions arent quite worth that effect.
So, instead, when the player destroys one of those machines in a factory mission, allow them to choose which bot from the main army they want it to affect. This will accomplish a few things. Firstly, it provides another sort of strategic choice that the player needs to make. Do they distribute the effect evenly among the bots? Do they focus it on just one or two bots? Which bots exactly do they choose, and which ones look like they might be the most dangerous in the final battle? Secondly, if a particular bot from that list is getting really out of hand via the random level-ups, this gives the player a chance to do something about it if they think they need to, whereas currently it's based on pure luck. Of course, the cost of focusing multiple level-downs on just one bot type is that it leaves the other ones untouched, which is something that the player will have to consider carefully. And finally, removing the pure-luck element of these missions should make them be a much more attractive choice, because you know that you'll be able to accomplish something meaningful with them if you choose carefully. |
