Summary0012756: Bahamut Device's collision area is too large, some clear spaces are blocked
DescriptionIn the attached screenshot, the player can't go north. I'm guessing the game thinks the square is occupied by the Bahamut Device, even though the art implies the space is passable.

All four corners (and two spaces in the case of the southeast corner) are blocked.

Chris, it looks like the device's footprint is one row too tall, but I'm guessing that little bump-out on the bottom is why, and that simply shortening it to not cover that wouldn't really work.

So is this just working as designed? Might be nice if we could modify the graphic to not have that small bump out, and make the footprint smaller, but perhaps the juice is not worth the squeeze. Alternatively make the footprint clearer visually.

Anyway, what should we do?

Ideally the game would be able to handle objects with a non-rectangular footprint. But that's kind of a non-core feature, and you might have better ways to spend your time on release week.

Goodness, yea, definitely want to avoid non-rectangular footprints forever if we can. The engine can handle it data-wise but the endless edge cases we'd run into, ugh :)

* Shrunk the footprint height of the bahamut device by 1 tile, so that you should now be able to walk near it in a more sensible fashion. If anything still feels off with it, do let us know!

Are you sure this fix is actually in the game? In version 932 I can't go west in the attached screenshot 12756-932.png. Save attached as well.

To clarify, is that from a mission started in 0.932? Mission maps generated before the fix would not be affected, in that the tile types were already set.

Yes, the mission map was definitely generated in 0.932.

For 0.933:

* Fixed another bug where you couldn't walk over mostly-empty squares of the bahamut device's footprint.
