Summary | 0012994: Communicate Exo "Warping" visually and auditorially in the game
Description | Part of the confusion (and complaints) about the one-exo-at-a-time format is that the game is not communicating that you're actually 'warping' an exo in on the same block. Instead, a new exo appears with a generic "kwatz" noise. There also may be some confusion that doing this also uses up one turn. Basically, what's in place right now is visually similar to changing characters in the overworld of an old JRPG. Like, hitting SELECT on an NES controller just changes a character portrait with no impact on turns or anything else. You should communicate the "warping" visually with a localized one tile "warp blip" effect and a unique sound that isn't used anywhere else in the game. This sound should be fairly subtle, since it's going to be heard quite a bit. Since the warp actually uses up a turn, the warp visual effect should also be superimposed over the new exo until it is free to make a turn. As other bots move, the effect remains, better communicating the exo's vulnerability. When they are done, the visual effect vanishes. With this, the user better understands the effect of "warping" and that they are not merely toggling between ever-present characters. This also adequately explains the penalty of using up a turn as the other bots make their moves (if any).
