Description | My flagship is lasting an awful long time, the other ships are barely tickling it. But when I look at the tooltips, I see the health values, but I do not see the attack values. It does show ship sizes. | ||||

Yeah, that was intentional -- lots of them have many guns, and that becomes too much info to display. If you want to know the attack values, you can hit the i key and it shows all that sort of thing in a graph for all the ships in the battle. |

How do I assess a battle before I get into it? There's no indication on superiority or damage. I need some kind of visual hint on ship performance. |

Well, what we could do is list the total DPS value -- that would probably be the best sort of hint, I imagine. |

Could you also list what type of weapon it is (ballistic, laser, or energy) in the tooltip? |

The main problem is that the type of weapon could actually be like 5 things, and that's really misleading. The DPS noted there is also the total DPS from all the weapons, not just one. So even that gets misleading, but it is useful. Honestly I think the most useful thing is the textual description of their intended role, in terms of decisions on how to actually use things. And then there's that extended info if you hit the i key, which gives you all the detailed info if you want it. But just throwing huge numbers of stats gets to be overwhelming, etc. |

That's fine. Let me try that out. I'm not asking for a spreadsheet on the battlefield, I just need a way to make battle decisions that make sense. The ships on the field do not tell me in and of themselves whether they are going to get their butts kicked by another kind of ship, so I'm looking at the tooltip to figure that out. |

Oh, I totally get where you are coming from, and am trying to figure out that same thing, essentially. |

Could you gives the ships total DPS and say, "This ship does mostly (type of damage) damage."? That should give you a good idea of what it is effective against without overloading the tooltip with information. |

That's an AWESOME idea. Basically "majority damage type: X" Bear in mind that not all damage has a particular type, so sometimes that will be absent. But that really solves the problem nicely -- sweet thought, that's killer. |
