Summary0013262: Allow hacking sabotage of co processors
DescriptionAs co processors interfere with supply, in some circumstances it is more desirable to remove one or more of them without any change in AIP. I don't believe it would make a significant difference to game balance or seem strange; I actually only discovered they weren't hackable when I attempted to do this and then found that my hacking module wasn't doing anything at all.

Hacked Co Processors would not count towards "destroyed" Co-processors needed for the reduction in AIP after destroying all four. Thus hacking one would negate any possibility of gaining that AIP reduction.

The whole point of co-processors is that each one gives +20 AIP, but when you destroy the 4th one you get a net reduction of -40 AIP. The penalty is there to make a player seek out and destroy all 4 at near the same time, not hack each of the 4 so that they get a net -120 AIP.

I think you are missing the point of the Co-Processors, and what you suggest would be very imbalanced.

Sorry this maybe wasn't clear: I'm asking for no change in AIP at all, positive or negative, so if you hack one, you're never going to get any AIP reduction. I wouldn't call that particularly imbalanced. I have edited the OP for clarification.

I still personally find it only mildly inconvenient. Worst case I leave that planet as unowned until such a time as I can take out all 4 conveniently. As an unowned world there is no threat to ships that pass through, the only thing it prevents is Science vessels on auto-collect knowledge from passing without manual orders.

In the game I was in, I needed the world as a beachhead far more than I needed an AIP reduction, and the other three Co-processors were all on or involved going past AI homeworlds (the RNG hated me). It was preferable to completely forego the AIP reduction, expend some hacking progress, and obtain supply where I needed it. As it was, I was forced to blow up the Co-processor and sit most of the rest of the game with my AIP 20 points higher.

I think it's a fair and meaningful choice: blow them up and deal with the AIP changes, or hack them to obtain supply, but then you've foregone any possible benefit from them. Meaningful decisions are what gameplay is all about, isn't it?
