| Description | I was defending the Peltians against an attack from the Thoraxians. There were a few Skylaxian ships in the battle even though the Skylaxians were friendly with the Peltians. After the battle I did not lose influence with the Skylaxians, and they did not chatter anything about their loss. | ||||

Assuming that the Skylaxians were allied with you and the peltians, all is as it should be. If a race is friendly enough with another race, and has ships to spare, it will send a few squadrons to help out periodically like this. |

The Skylaxians were friendly with the Peltians and they entered the battle against them, as an enemy of me. |

I don't recall the spec saying anything about side-allegiance if the scenario didn't specify, so they were always defaulting to hostile unless the scenario instructed otherwise. Or maybe I missed that part. Either way, for 0.806: * Added a rule whereby "bystander" fleets pulled into a player-combat by proximity (or by being scheduled to engage an involved fleet) no longer default to hostile to all other sides (unless the scenario otherwise specifies their relationship). Instead: ** If the race's attitude towards the other side (uses influence if that side is the player) is less than -25 OR the other side's attitude towards the race (doesn't apply vs player side) is less than -25, it's hostile like before. ** Else, if the attitude/influence is less than 25, the sides are neutral towards each other. ** Else, friendly.
