Summary | 0013370: Add remains of hydral homeworld as strategic location
Description | Smacking a moon into a watery, rocky planet has significant consequences for those who are willing to exploit it. Some races would be willing to invest in controlling the core remnants and feasting upon the corpse of their oppressor. For example, all the rare elements that are buried are now exposed for mining operations. There may be surviving hydral wrecks in the outer debris, or abundant ice for those races which lack them. As in the forum thread, I'd suggest adding an extra planet to the starmap representing whatever is left after the collision, which may be initially uninhabited or under the control of the race who launched the moon. The Acutian mining corp, in particular, would desire those resources would they be in short supply at their home. - give an edge to the early starfaring species, usually the first race, making the choice more interesting and strategically imbalanced. - an easy spot for early spaces to fight it out on even ground without the hurdles of fighting on an homeworldwhere where there's usually lots of fleets to repel invaders. If the moon launch is repeated on another planet larger than a moon, then another wrecked core might be created. Moon-moon collisions might create more asteroid belts instead.. Edit: This should give the Andors something on the planetary scale that they could conceivably control and grow in relative power. There are no more survivors to murder, they may wish to exploit the resources, or perhaps have ambitions of becoming peacekeepers and preventing other races from suffering the same fate.

Yep, this is something that I had on my internal list from you. :) Some things are more important first, and the art isn't done for this yet, but it's on the list for pre-1.0. |
|
SOLVED as 0.815 Now when a new game is started, the Hydrals' (destroyed) homeworld is now seeded at a random spot in the habitable zone, under control of the first spacefaring race. |
