Summary | 0013595: shield health of flagship appears damaged
Description | Nothing important but it looks odd if the length of the shield and hull health is visualized using the numeric values instead of the relative %. Usually, I'd expect to see the hud info in % health (if undamaged both have the same length) while the tooltip shows the absolute value x out of x.

This has been changed in 0.815 * The way that shield health is shown on ships is now the actual numbers instead of a percentage. |
I think GenScorpius would like to have it back as it was before .815 (so having percentage instead of raw numbers) |
I'm not sure, but I read it the other way. I guess we'll let him clarify, but I think that the actual numbers are more relevant since DPS is shown all over the place, as are damage amounts you take (via the popups), etc. The percentage doesn't really tell you much in terms of how much you can survive, and the bars already give a baseline feel for percentage. Is what I _think_ he was saying to begin with. |
It's nothing important at all, that's why I've set it to trivial. I would have preferred it the way it was in .815 (though I didn't see that version as I was invited in .816) but I can live with the current state. In the end it doesn't really even touch the matter of the numbers since the shield health graph still represents 100 %. However, since you derive the length of the health graphs from the raw numbers, the shield one is shorter. So my sense of symmetry would prefer if they were both the same length when at full health. I absolutely don't require the raw numbers to be the same though. ;) |
Just remembered the raw numbers would only matter when I would have the option to toggle to the numbers entirely instead of the graphics, similar to the way it was handled e.g. in X3 from Egosoft. x out of x hull (100 %) y ouy of y shields (100 %) and then beneath the power management bars.... |
