Description | When selecting a target, you would get a small menu, in a circle around where you clicked. This would let you select your weapon and then your firing mode. There are 3 primary weapons, you could have: Minigun Energy Gravity Hold Fire Then, the player would get the muscle memory of "Up" for standard, and left/right for energy/gravity, and down for hold fire. This would also server to assist the new user in what choice to make at what point in the combat flow. | ||||

Ring menus almost always get in the way of actually seeing what is going on, and select targets mode is just one mode among many to begin with -- and not even the most frequently used mode. We experimented wit this sort of thing in Bionic Dues, and I was not impressed. It works in Secret of Mana because it's basically a pause of the game and it's over your character, not the enemy. |
