Summary0014192: Player weapon ranges are too long. (allows a lot of out-ranging and trivializes a lot of fights)
DescriptionIf I remember correctly, the range of the player's weapons was increased at some point for balancing.

Right now they might be much too long. A lot of fights now don't work very well because the player has much longer reach than a lot of the enemies and can simply keep them at arms length.

Burlust fights in particular are adversely affected by this.

"The best thing to do wherever possible is simply power your engines, get out of range, and then power up your weapons so you can annihilate anything before you’re within range of their weapons. This is a strategy that will work for the vast majority of battles, the only exception being those that continuously spawn enemies."

* The ranges on all enemy ships (except the lances that insta-hit you) have been substantially increased, such that even on normal difficulty they now almost always have the same range or a bit more than you. Their shots don't move any faster, but it does mean that you can't kite in the same way as before, shooting enemies before they even get shots off at you. For the higher difficulties, the enemies increasingly outclass you in range.
