Summary0014293: Planet holdng against over 900 enemy armadas (and other oddities)
DescriptionThe attached savegame is from an observer game.
The Burlust planet is holding against more than 900 enemy armadas (total power > 650K).
Planet has 5 ion cannons but no defensive armadas (or at most 1) - I suppose ground combat are ongoing.

in more than 10 years nothing seems to be changed (planet is still there, population has not collapsed, etc...)

Strange thinks I noticed:
* max death/month is always 0 for them
* they have a 18% of their budget devoted to building construction - and they are trying to build the 6th ion planetary cannon. since only 5 of them can be built they seems to be stuck there (at 59% of ion cannon)

Even with total power above six million it's still not necessarily enough to do the job. Sometimes the fleets just refuse to do anything, and so picket or defend the enemy world to no effect. It's not that they can't do anything: I've seen much smaller fleets level enemy worlds before.

I've uploaded Hari Must Be Destroyed.zip as an example of this. There are two save files: Good Idea.save which has me with enough credits (and Acutian prisoners to sell for more) to sabotage all ten bomb shelters and five planetary ion cannons on Hari, to no effect. The autosave is much later, after the fleet has swelled even larger and moved to a FAR weaker Acutian planet and still has no effect on it.

It's almost like ground combat just isn't happening against them.

I also uploaded a save game. my first game actually and I can't see why they can't take over that planet. I think that goes on four hundreds of months now.

For 1.002 there are a lot of bugfixes and such for planetary attack. Thanks :)
 
Will look at the trying-to-build-something-it-can't-build tomorrow.
