Summary0014306: Smuggle In Resistance Fighters is painful, un-fun, and didn't have a visible effect
DescriptionThis mission took me roughly two hundred fifty turns to complete after I had destroyed all opposition. The AI of the troop carriers is very bad, wanting to follow me but worried about colliding with me so I have to fly well away from the drop zone to lead them into it. Their turning AI will often overcompensate, meaning I have to scramble to move so that by moving towards me they'll be moving towards the drop point.

Their AI should either be improved to move towards the drop point independently once the fighting is over, or the mission should automatically end in success once all enemies are defeated, and all surviving troop carriers counted as delivered.

Finally, landing ten troop carriers full of Skyllaxians on a world that the Peltians took from the Thoraxians but then surrendered to the Acutians didn't seem to have any effect (except maybe depressing population growth?) despite there only being one million inhabitants at the time of the mission. There was no way to check that there was insurgent activity going on or anything, not even an "Active Insurgents amount" value on the detailed planet info.

This is seriously the most obnoxious mission in the game and even comes with a disappointing outcome. Totally agree.

For 1.005:

=== "Smuggle In Resistance Fighter" Overhaul ===

* Now instead of the troop ships following you in pairs (with the others basically doing nothing until the previous pair either makes it through or dies), all 10 troop ships will be active from the start.

* Rather than following you, the troop ships beeline towards the drop zone. They use a sort of "follow the leader" movement so they don't all clump up to make one big target.

* Fixed some bugs where the "if a side is in situation X, all that side's ships should go on the attack" logic was interfering with the troop transports.

* Fixed a bug where you could not select a technically-dead race (no planets left) for the mission, even if that race had pirate bases to supply the troops.

* Fixed a bug where some "attack target offset" logic added way after the smuggle-resistance contract was making the troop transports go very strange places.
