Summary0014317: Orbital Bomber (Operations Ability) Does Nothing
DescriptionI went on a science raid against the Burlusts, blew everything up, then deployed two orbital bombers and sat around for a while (my third I deployed to early and it got blown up).

After 50 total turns I completed the objective to see the damage. Which was an error and zero total population killed (or possibly 1 million). Oh, and some structure, woop dee doo.

They just refuse to die. At one point they were down to a mere 3 million pop, but have since recovered, holding off 600+ Mark V fleets, with a current population of 4.1 billion. Billion with a B.

1.003 did tweak what happens.
I still don't think it kills people, but it does blow up buildings. Attaching a new screenshot.

And now (1.004) it's having trouble even blowing up buildings.

This is the ONLY way to directly get rid of "problem" planets, so I think getting the orbital bomber to work correctly should be a priority.

I should note that the last screenshot I did (1.003) was a combined 150 turns of orbital bombardment. With the end result of a lot of log entries, but actually not much damage. A single bomb does very little (call it a 10% chance of destroying a building and a separate 20% chance for actually hitting civilians results in 28% of all bombs that do anything).

Now that planet invasions can actually progress properly on their own, and given the generally wonky mechanics of the orbital bomber (seriously, sit around while it drops one bomb a turn?), it should just be removed.

It's not even one bomb a turn. It's more like one bomb every four.

I agree that it should be removed though: bombing the planet is not something I should be doing in tactical combat.

Instead I'd like to see an option to go on dispatch to bomb the planet.

In this next version, these are more potent as well as displaying their results better.
