Description | Though it is possible to "suprise attack" fllets on the system screen, if two fleets are in conflict, it's impossible to defend the ship being attacked (or attack it's attackers), since you can't click on the little ships swarming around it. Therefore, it is impossible to "pick sides" in any given conflict, the only option you have is to attack the ship that is already under attack (quite possibly the one you're seeking to rescue) at which point the sides are chosen for you (ie the ship you're trying to defend is your enemy and the ships you're wanting to fight off are "friendly"). It's possible to change the fire/no fire settings once in the tactical battle, but this is a jenky work-around, since though you prevent yourself from damaging your rescuee, they aren't prevented from hurting you, also ending the combat isn't handled propperly (you have to flee after taking out the attackers, because your rescuee is actually the objective), additionally, you get slammed with additional "betrayed us during combat" penalties. |
