Description | I like that the Fed Screen now shows the missing requirements to make someone join the federation... unless it's a "Needs 300 attitude both ways" thing. Then it shows "Not yet ready to make deal", which I already knew from the red font. I would suggest that in these (extremely common) cases, it instead says something like "Additional interspecies attitude needed: 60/20" or something along that. | ||||

I just checked a mid-game save and it does list the attitude requirements if they're not met, if you mouseover the deal that can't be made. If you see a situation where it's not giving you the reasons on mouseover, please post a save so I can check that specific case :) Or do you mean you want it to say that in the little gray text under the red deal name? I don't see how the info would fit in that small space. Bear in mind it's a bidirectional requirement (in all cases I currently remember). Anyway, if you want it there, and you think it can fit, what specific text/format would you suggest? |

Sure, you can mouse-over. However, in my 1.012 I've noticed that money and my influence weren't the problem. I've had tons of both.. but for a long time the attitude between the races where the huge problem to finally get the federation started and growing. -> see screenshot for an example from that game As you can see, in this situation "Not yet ready" contains just as much information as the red font. I still have to hover everything and that situation stayed for quite some time. So, one fast way to improve it to replace the "Not yet ready" with something that informs about the attitude requirements.. which is maybe a bit tricky. One suggestion would be something like: <Higher attitudes needed: Towards them: 200 Towards us: 100> (which is as long as the already fitting: <Additional Credits: 24,465,656 Additional Influence: 371>) Then, however, there is suddenly another question: What is more important, the lack of attitude or the lack of credits/influence? Which of both should show up first, if both requirements are a problem? My personal opinion on this would be: Attitude is harder to get than influence/money. Need money? Hunt some pirates or AFA, sell those masses of prisoners (autoresolve caused me to have a cargohold with 500+ pilots at times!). Need Influence? Outsource an outpost for very (!) high influence values. Steal it for -30, outsource it for 30 - great, breaking point after 60 months/1 use! Someone gives you -15 for helping the enemy? No problem, just give them an outpost too -> results in +15 for each race. Alternatively (which needs more work): If there was a symbol for credits, you could save a lot of text and could replace everything with the respective symbols. Of course, while keeping the tooltip, if things aren't immediately clear to the player. There is even enough space to put a "Needs: <symbol stuff>" infront of it. -> See Thoraxian box in suggestion.png |

For 1.017: * Now when the Federation Progress screen lists a deal that is blocked by mutual racial attitude being too low, the little summary line no longer says the generic "Not Yet Ready To Make Deal" (which info is already communicated by the red title) but instead states the attitude requirement and current levels. ** Further, this notice now takes precedence over listing unmet credit/proxy/leverage/influence requirements since those are relatively more straightforward to meet. All details are still listed in the actual mouseover tooltips for these deals, as before. Thanks :) |
