Description | The current nightmare difficulty definitely makes it harder to win with all races alive etc. However it is still quite straight forward to win with a few races. increased space faring speed ends up being beneficial since the race with the least armadas is usually the one that hates u the most (starting race had no time to build up forces before spacer-faring spreads) and they get cleaned up really quickly by attacks of opportunity. I understand the focus is to clear bugs but a nightmare difficulty with more spice in it would really improve the game. The following are a few personal suggestions for nightmare mode: -the starting race should have a stronger presence in the solar system. -The relationship buildings should be nerfed or increase the relationship needed to starting federation. -anti-federation alliances should get tech buffs (since you are going to be teching up the federation races they usually end up overpowering the other races. -Penalties with races having a strong negative opinion with the hydral. I find I can just focus on appeasing the 2-3 races that will eventually form my fed never having to worry about the others. perhaps every -500 they get a tech boost or armada production boost using their pure hatred for you as motivation. TLDR: >< Love the game!!! would love it even more if nightmare mode had a flare to it something that keeps you on your toes. | ||||

I support this. It doesn't make *that* much difference how quickly races become spacefaring as long as you pre-emptively destroy any dangerous-looking fleets. And I don't really care if I have -1000 influence with the Burlusts instead of -250... Another couple of suggestions along similar lines: - New Nightmare-only alliances could be added, possibly ones which could form earlier and/or more often than the standard ones. Or existing ones could form under broader conditions. This would give a higher chance of throwing a wrench in the player's plans. - The player's resource gain (e.g. Credit gained from combat) Research Speed, Construction Speed etc. could be reduced on Nightmare. This means the player has to be more efficient in what actions he decides to take. |
