Description | This suggestion is intended to address the following issues: - Colonizing moons is very overpowered compared to planetary mining buildings. - There is very little strategy involved in colonizing due to its cheap and random nature. - Races never use this very cheap method of gaining resources on their own; this breaks immersion. Suggestion: - ADD AN EXTRA MOON CATEGORY: As well as "Uncolonized" and "Colonized", introduce "Prospected, but not Colonized". These moons would not produce resources, but the resource present would be visible and available to select when colonizing. - ADD A "PROSPECT MOON" ACTION: This would be a quick dispatch mission listed under Friendly Acts. No Influence requirement. Moves a moon from the "Uncolonized" category to "Prospected". The AI can also take this action! They will do so if short of resources; however, it takes them longer than if the player does it for them. - MAKE COLONIZE MOON A LONG DISPATCH: It should take at least 40 months or so; then it's still much better than mining, but less ridiculously so. Affected by construction bonuses in the same way as Outposts. A Friendly action that requires a decent influence score (like Research and Build). - AI CAN COLONIZE MOONS: The AI will colonize moons in order to a) overcome a current resource shortage and b) achieve self-sufficiency (they will colonize moons with resources they have little income of). Possibly when races are in an Alliance, they would change behaviour to produce resources which the alliance as a whole needs. Thus the player and the AI are working at cross purposes. The AI wants to be self-sufficent in resources, while the player would like them not to be so that they will trade for what they lack. This means that when the AI colonizes moons, it is unlikely to be "helping" the player by doing so. | ||||

If Acution can COLONIZE MOONS thats very bad for players,I will wait for other suggestions |

If letting the AI colonize moons becomes problematic for the Acutians, I'd suggest allowing them to create "artificial" moons at higher tech (basically just let's them fire off a moon, without having any moons to fire off, but is WAY more resource expensive). Anyways, jusy a thought. I do the colonize moon thing myself, as it's way better than mines+refineries, and can allow the creation of more trade routes earlier in the game. |
