Summary | 0015107: Making planets move and orbit the star
Description | Just being a physics nut - I think it would help immersion if the various home-planets and outposts will move over time. What this would do is to bring various races closer and farther away from each other - which may affect, e.g., the timing of Evuck's suicide pact. Never a better time to blow your gas giant up than when your enemy is in range? Or possibly attaching giant thrusters to captured outposts along to bring it closer to your sphere of influence. Less important... It would pave the way for making transient objects appear in the solar system, e.g. comets.

It would be a seriously huge overhaul for us to make this happen, and additionally I think it would be hugely confusing if things are moving around all the time like that. Given the 2D nature of this, I don't think it would look terribly great either, as trying to pass behind the sun either makes it obscured, or else makes it look wrongly orbiting. |
