Summary | 0015173: Greater Simulation Customization
Description | As I went through the tickets, I'm noticing that there is alot of desire for this tweak or that. So I want to propose enchancing the "Start New Game" with much greater system customizationn options. Sample Categories: Agressiveness (ranges from "Peaceful" to "Genocidial") Size (Small to Huge) affects time required to travel between planets (for ships and player) Extra Planets (0-whatever): Seeds the system with uninhabitted planets that other races can race to conquer. (They are no-one's homeworld, but there are debris/other obsticals that must be overcome before conquering them) Time Scale ("Tortise" to "Hare"): Affects how much is accomplished in a day, how quickly new technologies come into play, etc. and on and on... :) What I'm really suggesting is a change in mindset. Instead of debating over whether a feature is better or worse, any feature that appeals to a wide enough group to justify the work can become an option. :) Plus it allows players to more fully adjust the game to their playstyle, or even just make it possible for each play through to be VASTLY different by changing the startup options. :) Also allows the game to appeal to a wider base, which is always good news to the sales department. ;)

It's a possibility, and if you have seen AI War at all you know that we've probably got the most customizable game start ever there. That said, each feature takes time to add, and adding optional features is not our focus at the moment. Right now it's about refining the core experience, and then later letting people tune things. AI War is considered overwhelming partly because of its incredibly overwhelming lobby. |

Yep yep, no rush or anything. I just noticed how multiple play styles were being described in various tickets (and how alot of times I wanted to try it both ways) and the thought occurred, so I threw it out there. :) |
