Summary | 0015529: Beacon improvement suggestion
Description | Greetings. My suggestion is to make redirectors movable(maybe a button to deploy itself or build beacon and then auto destroy) or buildable on planets without supply (the builders should be escorted tho). This should be quite useful to make patrol paths made for disposable units to keep number of AI ships low and not raising AI alarms. I know that players can make path like from start to the end but planets that have only one portal can't be successfully protected with this manner because ships enter there and leave without attacking anything (or maybe delivering a shot or two to nearest thing next to wormhole and leave)

actually, it depends on the ships and commands used with redirectors. I have personally used redirectors in the manner you speak of without problems, I just make sure I am holding down V when I give the redirector a destination so the ships are on attack move. They will stick around and fight at the endpoints for me when I do this. Vampire claws do not exhibit this behavior, however. They will not fight unless something gets within their seek range. I believe other melee ships would act that way as well, but I have not tested this. |
