Summary | 0015563: powerslaver available with swallowers turned off
Description | in a system where i hacked an ars I noticed the powerslaver was option 1 this wouldn't normally be an issue.. except I always play with swallowers turned off. save attached. might go forward choosing it just to see how it goes. :)

That's super bizarre. I just checked the code that's the one place that list (the list of ARS types available on a planet) can be populated and it explicitly checks to avoid adding Swallower types in no-swallower games, and I tested with a new game to confirm that it was indeed excluding the powerslaver. Will need to look into it more later. |
in a related note, the AI is using mkV powerslavers from strategic reserve in that game also. I have not seen it using any mki-iv versions though. |
What about exos? I think there is an issue where the AI can use swallowers in exos even when disabled, though that might just be non-fleetship swallowers only. |
Techsy730, that is an interesting thought, I didn't trigger any exos, but I have the exile narrowed down to 3 planets (all marked p5) in that save file. I personally think it's the one next to my mkIV ion cannon farming planet. or you could try hacking the nomad beacon on nomad 1. Those are the only alternate items I had enabled that could cause exos. I had the game set to lazy ai apparently. didn't realize until I was attacking a homeworld. honestly it made the victory feel cheap and dirty. :( |
when going to start a new game today, I looked into my options to make sure I turned lazy AI off. I had swallowers turned on. The fact that I didn't see any other types of them in that game is the only oddity here, I apologize for my error regarding this. did you know turning swallowers on and off causes nomads to move about on the galaxy map? interesting to me, I wonder why it does that. |
Thanks for following up on that. And yes, toggling swallowers on/off impacts the bonus ship choices, which impacts the number of randoms rolled, which impacts later random choices like nomad planet positioning, etc. |
