Description | These thing are REALLY messed up currently. I hadnt run into any in awhile, or I probably would have posted this sooner. This one is a pretty nasty problem. The screenshot pretty much says it all: The presence of even a couple of these things can make for missions that could seriously take hours to complete. The mechanics of these things overall are a bit of a total mess, and cause problems for any mission they are in. In addition, they cannot be approached without stealth on higher difficulties; if you dont have that, they're unstoppable because they just keep making Cutters and other things. And even if you do get close, your shots have to actually HIT them.... which is unlikely when they're covered in other ships. Note that the situation in the screenshot is AFTER I'd taken a large number of those ships out with squadrons, the minigun, and the anti-swarm lasers, which were in position to hit huge numbers at once. They could probably do with a total rework; simply limiting their squadrons basically just makes them into flagships that cannot move. Perhaps some other mechanic entirely? A suggestion: Have each one focus on a specific type of ship to produce (so it's not JUST Cutters everywhere), but the production is limited based on the number of ships in the area, to prevent massive swarms. It'd need to be a fairly heavy restriction (so it doesnt constantly make that impenetrable wall), though honestly I dont think it needs to be making them super often to be a threat to begin with, particularly in a docking mission like the one in the screenshot. In addition, when they ARE producing ships, a decently lengthy cooldown would help, and perhaps smaller squadrons for certain ships if that seems necessary. I know it sounds like ALOT of nerfing, but they're seriously that strong right now. Currently it's the only major issue I can think of involving combat. They might also do with somewhat less shields... though if they are reworked enough that might not be necessary. Not sure. | ||||

Do you have a savegame for these? And what exactly are you referring to, unit-wise? |

I think he refers to Emergency Response Hangars. There also seems to be a lot of them: I got nine at once (with three of them overseeing my spawnpoint and two the target). I first tried to destroy some infrastructure while at it (CommSat, WeatherSat), but that got me swarmed with little ships, and while I could destroy them, I got no chance to dock at the space lab. Then I reloaded (something I don't do very often), tried to swiftly fly around them and dock, and I barely managed that, because all the little ships did nearly enough damage to me (with full shield energy) to reset my progress. |
