Summary0015790: Game graphics became extremely choppy and skipping frames after updating to 8.010
DescriptionGreetings, first time doing this so not sure if I'm doing this correctly.

Basically the game's graphics became very choppy and laggy after installing the new 8.010 update. Stuff like ship movement, engineer build-assist lasers and forcefield rotation animations all seems to be skipping frames pretty heavily. The game ran completely normal for me earlier today before installing the new update, so I'm pretty sure the issue isn't with my computer.

Stuff I've tried (and didn't work):
- Turning off all graphic settings (backgrounds, explosions, etc), ship movement still skips a ton of frames
- Changing to windows mode, changing to other resolutions
- Restarting the computer before starting the game, RAM and CPU usage are way below maximum

Looking at the patchnotes for 8.010 apparently the redrawing logic has been changed, so I'm suspecting this has something to do with that perhaps. Please let me know if there's any more information needed, thanks!

What OS are you on, and what are your performance settings (under the Stats screen in-game) set to?

Same problem here, chugging after the 8.010 update with no previous performance problems. I'm running Windows 8.1. The stats window says my game speed is about 103%, high profile. Everything seems normal while paused, but when I hit play everything's moving at 10fps or so.

Is it literally saying 10fps if you show the FPS in the chat log (option under settings), or is it just seeming that way in terms of how jerky it is?

Incidentally, on my linux box I can duplicate this, so I at least have a lead for looking into it.

No, that's just me guessing the update rate by eyeball. Thanks for the quick response! Sadly 8.011 doesn't help, same problem present.

In the chat log my frame rate shows as 60. It doesn't seem to be dependent on what's on screen, same choppiness if only one bomber is in view.
