Is this something you're able to reproduce? Was there an error.log that also got posted? What OS are you on?

Thank you for the added info! At the moment this is still a mystery, because you were definitely not out of ram or even close, in terms of your overall system. The crash message is really nonspecific, too.

Thanks for the prompt replies. Well I just experienced another crash. It happened while I was just running "a improve" relationship between 2 races. Since influence was -30.000 I minimized it. Every once in a while I opened the window "stopped" the mission and resumes (like a check point). On the last part between 15 - 5.000 the game crashed, this time a dialog box "too many heaps".

I attached the logs.

Hmm, minimizing the game like that for a long time may actually be the cause, because the Unity engine stupidly logs a ton of messages while it doesn't have focus if it is fullscreen. Running it in windowed mode would bypass that and probably avoid the crash.

Still, though -- minimizing the program to just let it run? What about super-fast-forward? It should never take substantial realtime of you just sitting around to have something happen...

Game was running windows , and then minimized (i think). I used the webbrowser and other things at this time then.
Maybe I didn't find this super fast forward button yet? Is it holding the 2x button on the lower left? If so, it didnt speed things up significantly it seems.

Yep, that's the super fast forward button. You should see the year progress bar in the lower left just flying by way faster when that is on. If not, can you upload a savegame where things are going particularly slowly? Possibly there is some optimization we can do there.

How much time should I expect when reducing -30.000 bad to +300 ? Per bar at 2x speed in the endgame save it takes about 25 - 30 seconds (?)

I compared a brand new game (just flew to first planet and "assisted with armada construction", the first 30 seconds it was indeed much faster, but then approx 16K credits earned it started to slow down a lot. (Probably due to all those ships).

In the new game it's similar, if not slower. Not sure if this is a problem on my side.

Uploaded "2x_button_still_slow.7z" itcontains the endgame content, I was doing the improve evucks <-> borines relationship dispatch mission. Is it possible to disble the armada movement display? Maybe that is causing the speed down?

Got it, thank you -- we'll see what we can do there in terms of finding pain points. I don't think it's the armada movement display, but we'll have to profile it to find out, and that will take some time.

In terms of reducing -30.000 bad to +300, that really ought to be impossible, to be frank. Just grinding away at that is definitely not intended!

:) It doesn't completely belong here, but if that is the intention that -30K is a lost cause, maybe there should be lower limits and some kind of end game condition. As it is now, the game ended in a stalemate and cannot be won (except this improve relations) action.

I will be sure to check about that and if that's the case, I'll make it detect the loss. Thanks!

Okay, I can definitely duplicate the extraordinary slowness here. I've put in various changes to make it so that you can't recover relations from being so low.

In terms of the actual gameplay being so slow, that's something we're going to profile and work on. Thanks for the save!

Oh, I meant to say -- in terms of the actual balance, you may find that better in 1.603. Let me know if not!

For 1.604:

* Changed how tech-research is tracked internally to fix a problem where the intra-alliance-tech-sharing checks were basically devouring the CPU whole in some very-late-game scenarios.

Thanks :)

Didn't mark the record resolved overall since I wasn't focusing on the memory side of things.

Wow the difference in performance is astronomical. I'm going to mark this resolved, and if a memory issue comes up later then let's have a separate report for that. Right now enough has changed that would help with this issue that I don't think it's the same ballpark, at least. :)
