Summary0016324: Slow interturns
DescriptionI vaguely recall Chris telling us in one of the early posts about the beta that turn processing shouldn't be taking more than 1 second each time, and that he wanted to know about it if they were taking more than a couple of seconds. Well.. mine are taking about 30 seconds each. How long are other people seeing turns take?

This is on an oldish computer - Late 2011 edition Macbook Pro - with a few other programs running as well - at least Chrome for this website, Skype, Preview for screenshots, etc. However, this definitely feels on the long side.

I attach a current game so that people can tell me whether it really is just my computer, or whether something's wrong with my game. Also a screenshot of the interturn log with detailed time breakdown, for comparison purposes

I'm getting slower turns myself. I've attached my save.

I've also noticed the game is demanding more resources, probably GPU given how hard my fan is running (Thinkpad T400).

Right now my turns are take 22 seconds to resolve.

Never fear guys, I'm sure that we can get that time back down. Well, by "we" I mean Keith. ;) It might be a couple of days depending on his schedule, but basically whenever these sorts of slowdowns happen we _definitely_ want to know about them so that we can figure out where the CPU hog is.

We've periodically had super-long turns in the past, so this is something new. It's kind of one of those "kill them when you see them" sort of things, so definitely thanks for bringing it up and always please continue to.

It's possible that the reason for the slowness in these saves is the same, or they could be utterly unrelated. I'll leave that to Keith. :)

For 0.806:

* Shortened the interturn processing times. In the heaviest test cases the reduction is about 85%.
