Once upon a time I had planned on things like that, but that was back before everyone had their own graphics. You can't tell an indoctrinator of the krolin apart from one that belongs to you, etc. There aren't things like territory border colors, etc, and last time we tried that in this game (we spent a TON of time on it), it looked really bad. |

but surely that shouldn't matter now that the ais building look so incredibly distinct from your buildings although granted I suppose there could be a mild issue of the player forgetting which of the ais buildings are his and which aren't which is a bit of a shame although perhaps you could have a flag appear over captured buildings?.(it would fit with the players human theme and make it quite clear which of the buildings are yours) |

Many AI buildings have functions that either don't make sense for a human player (from a game mechanics point of view) or would be really hard to balance.
Don't forget that these are buildings constructed for and by (and sometimes out of) other races, some of them very alien. Your troops would, at the very least, have to completely refit life support and control systems to be able to use anything.
I suppose it could potentially make sense to hold captured buildings for ransom, but I don't think that would add enough to the game to be worth the implementation cost. Maybe an expansion idea, though? |

well part of my initial idea for this was for certain buildings to add things or remove things as depended on by balance but over all its occurred to me for all the pissing about that would require they may as well just add different buildings for you to build instead. ps and of course thematically it doesn't make séance your race could just build a copy of their building instead of risking sending in a squad of perfectly capable men if your understands the other races buildings enough to fit them to its own use. |
