Summary | 0016944: Left-hand screen icon selection post end of turn.
Description | I selected the "Demolish Building" on previous turn. After selecting the end-of-turn button, I had not realised it had remained active and accidentally demolished a building. Would it be possible to either have 'are you sure?' type of dialog before delete (with the option to not ask again) or a deselection process once the end-of-turn button is hit?

-- If you are in demolish mode, please have that mode get turned off between turns. No other modes to do that. |

In this new game, I've done it several times now, very annoyed with myself. Demolish mode should not be so automatic between turns. In other games I don't know how many times I've gotten carried away with hitting bulldoze, demolish, scrap, etc. that wrecked my long term planning. However in those cases it was recognisable rushing. In SBR I expected the behaviour for each turn to start out in clean initial "start of turn" state. I've had to reload an earlier save, which is something I really don't like doing as it kills the immersion. For new players this type of thing doesn't help with positive familiarity with the UI. From a HCI stand point; whilst you can learn a tool's behaviours and interactions, it doesn't necessarily mean those interactions are the right learning experience. In the gaming world, this seems to be missed a lot of the time. Here a 'delete' like behaviour needs to not frustrate or cause the player to hesitate. Apologies the above is TMI, but I'll leave the comment just in case you're interested why I actually mentioned this bug/feature in the first place. :) |
|
It's not TMI at all, I really appreciate the added info, actually. I've bumped this up on the priority list, too, based on this. For the other items I find that not having a clean slate is super useful, like when I'm staying in camp placement mode and just placing a bunch of camps (holding shift to keep doing it). I've been contemplating actually if taking an action should not take you out of that mode -- basically you stay in placement mode or whatever by default. That's probably more handy, and it's more SimCity-like. But I need to do some sort of better iconography relating to those things if so. |
|
For 0.876: * Now if you have Demolish mode active when you end a turn, it's automatically cleared so you don't accidentally wreck something next turn. Thanks :) |
