Summary | 0017107: Fluff issue: Races are simply not "settled" enough
Description | As I understand the intended back story the player is supposed to be the new arrival that crashes into a planet that has been populated by other races for quite some time. Unfortunately, currently the game feels nothing like this to me. Instead the race's cities give the impression of being just as young as the player's city is. Just hasn't remotely the right vibe to me. - I think that a good solution to this problem might be to seed the game with (much) larger cities for the races, but have them expand less aside from a couple of more aggressive races. - There could even be some feuds and alliances be going on immediately at the start of the game, which would give more of an impression of entering a living world. - If need be this "degree of establishment" could be part of the difficulty options later on or be derived from the general strategic difficulty. The higher the difficulty, the more buildings the races would get. - Maybe this could even be combined with one or two predefined cities (I am thinking e.g. of a handcrafted Burlust stronghold here) I for one would very much enjoy playing in a more "settled (in)" world. In case your main objection is that such established races would simply kill off the player on landing , both in terms of fluff and real gameplay, please see the related issue below.

More recently, they have a lot more buildings. Additionally, though, the story is going to be addressing certain things related to this. :) |
Maybe giving one or two of them an additional territory that is fully populated at game start might increase this even more? Or is this already the case? Also: Do you plan to make the "degree of establishment" part of the difficulty settings at some time? I was quite fond of the idea ;)... |
Ones that have territory as a priority do get a second territory, although it doesn't fully populate it. |
Cool! Did you catch my question with regard to difficulty settings? Might be interesting to be able to land in a world even more populated than currently generated... |
Good for a separate ticket that we can turn into an optional setting in the later-to-be game start settings. |
