Summary0017273: formalized diplomacy is the best economic tech in the game.
DescriptionBy which I mean that selling resources, which formalized diplomacy lets you do, generates incomes drastically greater than everything else put together at the point you get access to it.

While I certainly don't claim that this game is at all optimised, this is the point at which I got Formalized Diplomacy. I have approximately 8.5k income at this point.

I can sell two of my three resources for 20k *each* (well, 10k *2 each for the two copies, but that's irrelevant), multiplying my income by 5 on the spot. I believe this needs to be toned down significantly - I think these numbers might not have changed since (significantly) before the massive income overhaul when fishing/logging was introduced?

Linguistics don't come close to stopping this, since the numbers are fairly unintelligible with none, the formatting is easily interpretable after you've seen it before, and the prices seem to vary very little anyway.

Have not personally tried this method but I'd be interested to try it out. However, since military buildings now cost crowns to attack, perhaps this is less of an issue? By turn 100 im usually at about 40-60k crowns per turn anyways so money becomes a non issue fairly quick.

There's going to be a lot of changes with the diplomacy stuff in general, just as a note. How you interact with other races at the moment through that diplomacy panel is entirely going away, to be replaced by on-map stuff. Kind of like how the linguistics tab went away and became the linguistics building popup that was simpler.

Territories were one important step in that chain, actually, and now we can move on with that.

* All old diplomacy-screen-based mechanics have been removed.
