Once human civilization, ruins lay about.

Our old structures and buildings lay strewn across the galaxy, where peace once was. These structures were a part of our mainstay, but ever since the AI began to take over, became meaningless. Curiously, the AI is trying to learn from these structures--to fit into the roles they served to society in one way; the reason why they remain intact.

These structures must be captured with an engineer before they are neutralized, and when applicable, provide the humans with various rewards. The retrofit of AI behavior is planet-specific only, and nullifies when the structure is captured; the structure is blind but is ignored by the AI, so they will never attack these structures of interest. Rewards, if applicable, spawn at the structure on capture and are announced in chat.


These structures appear at random, and only few are seeded if the AI is not a Historian AI (new AI type)--Historian has one per planet; these effectively provide the AI with "tools of all trades"--effectively requiring a different type of strategy for each of its planets. Actually, this would make for another alternative victory conditions for those who typically capture many planets.

"Humans discovering their past about how things got to be the way they are" cliche.
