Summary | 0018260: Can no longer start new game after deleting save once.
Description | I deleted my save once and since then I've been unable to start a game, even after reinstalling. I took a screenshot of the error and attached it.

I attached the debug log. |

After this error occurs, there seems to be a game available to continue, but continuing it results in a black screen with game HUD and music playing. For some reason Tutorial still works. |
|
I've tried re-installing, deleting the saves, and restarting my PC. I don't know what could be persisting still, but I still can't start a new game. |
|
Have you tried clearing out the saves folder? It might help. |
|
I'm only aware of the saves folder inside the game's directory and I cleared that out manually along with the rest of that directory when I reinstalled. If there's another save directory outside the game's install (inside steamapps/common) I don't know where it is. |

I added a fresh save (2.save). Try sticking that in your save dir (the one you mentioned). If that don't work, I'm out of ideas. |

Ok so this suddenly got a lot better but a bit more weird. The update to .852 initially "fixed" my game, but to be thorough I tried repeatedly testing the issue again. I can still get it to happen by deleting save games, but not nearly consistently now as in .851. When I can get it to happen it does get solved by complete wipe and reinstall now, so at least now it seems not as perplexingly permanent as it was. So something in .852 appears to have partially solved it, but not completely. At least I can now play again. |

For 1.005: * Now when you use the in-game delete function on a file slot, it actually replaces that file with a very small file (just containing the text "deleted") which the game treats as an empty slot. ** This way, steam cloud will not "helpfully" immediately repopulate the save file. Thanks :) |
