Summary | 0001839: Derelict nuclear warheads
Description | Some nuclear warheads from the civil war time had been disabled by enemy fire but not destroyed. Derelict nuclear warheads are the planetary sized equivalent of exploding barrels, when they are destroyed the effect is identical to a regular Mk I nuke. If the AI owns them at that time there's an AIP penalty associated. When a player captures the planet he inherits the relic as well and the AI can decide to raid it (probably shouldn't do that when it has firepower superiority on the planet). The player can also scrap it as a last resort measure when the planet is heavily overrun, without AIP penalty in that case. The relics would mostly be a liability to their owner. Having one on a valuable planet would require some serious security measures to prevent the AI from raiding it.

I don't see the strategic value of adding something like this to the game. |
|
What, you don't see the value of adding more stuff that makes big boom. :D |
|
I think that would be an interesting way to add flavor to a planet or two, as long as they aren't too common and as long as they never, ever, ever spawn directly adjacent to a wormhole. :) |

I like it. In many ways it's too easy to sacrifice systems in a critical defensive situation. Usually the only two things that I really have to hold are a mark IV factory and my homeworld, everything else can be lost and retaken as needed. Having another system or two that, if lost, is really lost would make for more interesting CPA's and the like. |

If it's going to just sit around, there needs to be the possibility of being able to reclaim them into your warhead fabricators after capture - thus neutralising the threat. It's one of *yours* after all. Not logical otherwise. |
